32 Procedures ( View All )

Botox is only provided and injected by Dr. Melanie Carreon since 2004, over 14 years of experience! To help turn back the hands of time and to prevent lines and wrinkles from forming on the upper section of the face, LCS Medical Spa in Seguin, near New Braunfels, San Marcos, San Antonio and Austin TX is proud to offer BOTOX to local men and women. This dermal treatment is extremely popular and provides gorgeous results. BOTOX can make a big enhancement to dynamic lines and wrinkles, which are created by making expressions with the muscles contracting on the upper face. BOTOX is a filtered strain of botulinum toxin (type A) that temporarily blocks the movements of the facial muscles to diminish wrinkles and create an overall softer appearance. It is most commonly placed by medical director Dr. Melanie Carreon between the brows, on the Crow's feet, and along the forehead. Call our front desk today to schedule a private consultation and take advantage of our $9.75/unit on Thursdays.

Ideal Candidates

BOTOX is ideal for individuals who want to smooth the appearance of dynamic lines on their face nonsurgically. It is also used as a preventive treatment, even if you are younger — keep in mind how often you tend to make facial expressions. It is a great nonsurgical approach if you have forehead lines or noticeable furrows between the brows. It's also a solution for lines that form around the eyes. If you have deeper lines, an injectable filler may be recommended.

Procedure Technique

BOTOX injections are performed as an outpatient procedure directly at LCS Medical Spa. If it is your first time to visit us in Seguin, near New Braunfels, San Marcos, San Antonio and Austin TX for BOTOX since 2004, we commonly perform the injection during the same appointment as your consultation with Dr. Carreon. You will be asked to make a few facial expressions using the upper face, such as squinting, frowning, etc., which will allow us to determine where the injections should be placed. The skin will be cleansed and BOTOX will be injected through a fine needle, followed by a cold compress to help reduce bruising, swelling, and discomfort. You can request a numbing cream to make the procedure more comfortable, but it generally is not necessary. BOTOX injections typically take about 5 minutes, and you can return to your normal activities with no required recovery period.

What to Expect

After the injection, you can resume your usual activities, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours. You will be asked to sleep upright for the first night and to not touch your face, which may accidentally spread the treatment to other areas. The treated areas of the face may be slightly red, bruised, or swollen for a few days, but you will not experience any long lasting or serious side effects. In most cases, it often takes about 5 – 7 days before the full effects of BOTOX are visible. The results typically last 3 – 4 months. You should speak to us about how often to schedule touch-up appointments at LCS Medical Spa to maintain your results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does BOTOX cost?
Your cost for a BOTOX treatment will depend on how much product is used based on your cosmetic needs. However, we offer BOTOX for $9.75 per unit. During your consultation, Dr. Carreon will create your personal treatment plan before she can estimate your costs. BOTOX can produce impressive results when performed by a skilled with over 14 years of Botox experience as our medical director Dr. Melanie Carreon, but it can also be unsafe if done by someone without training or very little experience, which is why it's better to avoid places offering cheap or knock-off injections. To save money, ask about the Brilliant Distinctions Rewards Program so you can earn points for BOTOX treatments and other Allergan products, like Juvéderm. Experience matters!

How long will my results last?
The results from BOTOX can last up to four months. Most patients schedule an appointment every season to refresh their results, but you may want to come back sooner. If you are getting BOTOX while you are younger as a preventive treatment, you may be able to schedule appointments further apart. After listening to your goals and creating your treatment plan, Dr. Carreon will be better able to estimate when you should schedule your next appointment.

What's the difference between wrinkle relaxers and fillers?
Wrinkle relaxers (like BOTOX) and wrinkle fillers (like Juvéderm and Radiesse) are both popular cosmetic treatments that decrease wrinkles and smooth fine lines. BOTOX relaxes overused facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, like frown lines (between the eyebrows), Crow's feet (in the outer corner's of the eyes), forehead wrinkles, and smile lines. Wrinkle fillers add volume under the skin to correct hollow areas and decrease the appearance of wrinkles on the surface. Depending on your goals, Dr. Carreon may recommend BOTOX, injectable fillers, or a combination of both for a liquid "facelift."

What's the difference between BOTOX and Xeomin?
BOTOX and Xeomin are both injectable wrinkle treatments that use botulinum toxin (type A). Both relax facial muscles to improve dynamic wrinkles, but each formula is slightly different to suit specific areas and needs. There are subtle differences between them including the recommended dosage, treatment spread, and length of results. Dr. Carreon will suggest the best brand or brands to match with your needs and goals so you get your best results.

Is BOTOX safe?
When administered properly, BOTOX rarely causes any complications. With that said, it is still very important to find someone who has experience in handling this medication, like Dr. Carreon with BOTOX experience of over 14 years. Too much of the product can cause an undesirable outcome. A skilled and experienced medical director will us just enough of the medication to effectively freeze the facial muscles that cause wrinkles while leaving nearby muscles unaffected. One of the most popular cosmetic treatments on the market today, it is safe and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition to cosmetic uses, BOTOX is also used to treat medical conditions such as facial spasms, excessive sweating, uncontrollable blinking, and migraines.
